All About Chemical Peels

Q: Is this a superficial, medium or deep peel?

The LA Peel is our chosen product and is classified as a superficial peel, but the peel can be layered for a deeper peel.

Q: What skin problems does it treat?

The peel is used to treat mild to moderate wrinkles, sun damaged skin, melasma and mild to moderate acne. The range is suitable for all skin types; however ethnic and darker skin types may be treated with a series of light peels in order to exercise extra caution against possible risks of skin pigment damage.

Q: When shouldn't I use a peel?

Q: What should my peel program consist of?

Depending on the area being treated a number of peel treatments may be recommended for optimum results, ranging from one to several. Treatment sessions would be spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart.

Your practitioner may then recommend using the Theraderm Skin Renewal System range of products at home post peel.

Q: What side effects should I be aware of?

According to the manufacturer there are no reported side effects, however if over peeling should occur with resulting irritation, then Hydrocortisone 1% cream can be used to treat. People who are prone to cold sores should be prescribed Valtrex or Zovirax 2 days prior to peel.
